Marco A. Lopez, Jr.
left home at 16 to bring his Hispanic perspective to the nation’s capitol: “Growing up in a border community like Nogales, where the United States and Mexico are not two different countries but one community, shaped my way of looking at the world. I didn’t know as a child that I crossed an international boundary when I went from Nogales, Arizona to Nogales, Sonora. I grew up in Nogales, period.” Now, Lopez serves as both the Arizona-Mexico Commission’s (AMC) executive director and Governor Napolitano’s policy adviser for Mexico and Latin America.
